On Tuesday, March 10 at 7:00 pm, the Eastview High School Wind Symphony will welcome the Valley Winds of Apple Valley for a collaborative concert at the Eastview High School Performing Arts Center, located at 6200 140th St West in Apple Valley. This event, free and open to the public, will feature an exciting blend of classic and contemporary wind band repertoire, showcasing the artistry and talent of both ensembles.
The 70-member Valley Winds will open the program with “Festive Overture” by Dmitri Shostakovich, arranged by Donald Hunsberger—one of the most popular pieces in band literature. The ensemble will also perform “Jericho” by Morton Gould, one of the earliest works composed specifically for band. Bassoonist Gene Scholtens, recently relocated from New York where he was a professional musician, will be featured in Gabriel Pierné’s “Solo de Concert.” The program includes “Grandmother Song” by Minnesota composer Brent Michael Davids,…
